Jesus Clears It Up | 1 John 2:7
Wednesday Evening Service | Pastor Nick Adams | 1 John 2:7
What if love isn't about feelings at all, but about action? This week we explored 1 John 2:7-11 and discovered that Jesus didn't just tell us to love our enemies—He showed us how while hanging on a cross, praying "Father, forgive them."
We often justify our dislike of certain people, creating categories of who deserves our love. But Jesus cleared that up: neighbors, brothers, AND enemies. All of them. The only way we can love the unlovable is by surrendering to Christ and letting His Spirit overpower our selfishness. Love suffers long, is kind, doesn't seek its own—these aren't feelings, they're visible actions.
Here's the challenge: Are we known by our love for one another, or by what we're against? The most loving thing isn't always comfortable—sometimes it's confrontation, sometimes it's a hard conversation, sometimes it's showing up when it's inconvenient. But it's always about doing what's best for someone else, not what makes them (or us) feel good in the moment.
We're here to win souls, not arguments. Jesus already won the battle.
